minutes of the 1/10/10 Meeting
Minutes of the 1/10/10 Heartworks Meeting
Present- Julie C. , Teresa, Carol D., Kelli, Julie R., Victoria, Lisa, Carol S., Courtney, Moira S.
(We welcomed 2 brand new members)
We lit candles and sent some prayers to loved ones in need as well as support to our troops.
Old business: Julie R. talked about the community sharing project and how that went. We thanked everyone for donating money or items to Vanessa and her family whose home was destroyed by a fire.
We talked about this being the start of our 3rd year and how some events will be happening annually.
New Business: Teresa brought up the Bike Bike and Trike event that was so successful last year and is looking into setting the date as May 15, 2010. She is going to check with the Chamber to see if it conflicts with other events.
The February Fundraiser will be the Talent Show. More details will follow but it will be on Feb. 7th , 4:30-6:30, we will have a run-through on Jan.31 from 2:30-4 and a brief Heartworks meeting to follow. The evening of the event we will sell pizza, baked goods and water. We will need help with set up, clean up and with sales that night. We are getting announcements and a flier out this week. Get your kid/s ready for a FUN evening!
We discussed 2 possible people we may collect money to help. (Locals that we have to see if they are receptive to our help).
We ended the meeting! Great conversations, stories and snacks! Thanks to all who attended and all who continue to support our cause!

DECEMBER OPPORTUNITY
All hands on deck for this one:)
Community Sharing Project
Serving Dorset, Danby, Pawlet, Rupert and Wells
November 14, 2009
Dear Julie and Heartworks Friends,
Thank you for volunteering to adopt a family through the Community Sharing Project. Your presents are truly gifts for these families in need. Attached I have listed the sizes and specific requests for each child. We ask that you do not wrap the gifts. We have been told that some parents picking up these items enjoy seeing them before Christmas morning, but if you want to include wrapping paper, that is entirely up to you (and not expected!)
I have also included a food list for you to shop with as you prepare the food basket. We will provide the potatoes and the turkey. Please put all food items in a plastic rectangle laundry basket (size 1.5 bushel.)
The number of toys you choose to purchase is entirely up to you. We try to give each child at least two and some years they receive more.
If you have any questions as you begin this joyous time of the giving, please feel free to call me at 867-2463. Again, thank you for participating in this wonderful project.
Details:
I have assigned "FAMILY # 37" to you and your team. Please label
all gifts with "FAMILY #37" when you deliver the gifts to the Dorset Church.
Please bring them all at the same time....probably sounds obvious, but with
so many of you volunteering in your group I just wanted to clarify that.
VERY IMPORTANT: HEARTWORKS helpers, drop all goods off at either Julie Rings House 67 Hemlock Ridge Road Manchester (covered porch if she's not there) or at Maple Street School. We will coordinate to bring our groups goodies together.
BEFORE PURCHASING: Please call 362-2367 or email Julie@byo.com to tell us what you would like to donate. To make sure that we aren’t overlapping each other, I will check off as emails/calls are received and will send you a confirmation asap that you can move forward with your donation. THANKS!!
