2011 Meeting - Heartworks 3rd anniversary

Tuesday , January 11th at 7pm Maple street school -

come celebrate 3 years of Heartworks with us - and we will have a meeting, bring a friend, and raise a glass with us to toast what we have done , and what we have to look forward to. Taking care of ourselves so we can give to others!

DECEMBER OPPORTUNITY

So we are official gatherers for Family #120, YAY!!.

For new members Community Sharing Project, is a Dorset based group that gathers clothes, toys and a full week of groceries for families in need. The "needs" for our family are outlined below. Please forward me what you desire to donate. If it's already taken I will email you with a suggested second choice. Any questions feel free to email me or call 362-2367.

1 Jar of Pasta Sauce
1 Box of Pancake Mix
2 Can's of Tuna
1 PLASTIC jar of Mayo
1 Plastic Jar of Peanut Butter
1 Jar of Jam
2 Cans of Gravy

November 17, 2010 HEARTWORKS MEETING minutes

Present: Lisa , Nina, Julie R., Karen, Kelli, Courtney
Lauren , Sophia, Pastor Margaret, Jan, Lori , Victoria

-Lisa opened with introductions.
-Heartworks is about taking care of others and ourselves.

-Pastor Margaret was asked by Lisa to come and talk about God, etc…

-Pastor Margaret discussed her spiritual quest and how she found her way into ministry and her way to the Peru church. The women asked some questions and affirmed her talk.


November Opportunities:

1. Ed- in need of tires for his car. Wife has been in a coma for 18 months
-Nina will talk to Hand Motors regarding donating tires.
- Lisa will email tire sizes to Nina.

2. Community Sharing Project for December from Dorset. In the past Heartworks has adopted 2 families to provide for. Heartworks would like to adopt one family this year that has 2 children.
-Julie Ring will head this up.

3. Stork Family in Sunderland- they recently lost their home to a house fire. Heartworks would like to make a financial donation/gift card.


4. Jen Samuelson- recently discovered she will need back surgery for her scoliosis. She will be in NY for 3 weeks and in need of care while her family is in Vermont.
- Forward on to members specifics as to what Jen is asking for to assist both her and her family during her recovery period in NY.


Sophia discussed ways in which she could get the BBA service learning program involved in Heartworks.


OPPORTUNITIES:
A) check in on the google calender to make a meal for the Samuelsons

B) They are looking for a ride to the airport going to Albany on December 17th leaving Manchester at 2pm. Email me if you can do it - lisakelly@burrburton.org

a gift basket went to Pia's house along with some people that sparkled a clean house

a check went out to the Neighbors Panty in S. Derry in Karl Pfister's honor

we have delivered some items and clothes to the Chippenhook in Arlington to help their family in Albany area

and this Friday we are doing a bake sale at the Homecoming soccer games - the Kids are selling and determining where the money goes - let me know if you can bake a good! we need about 15 things . .

minutes of the 9/12 meeting

Meeting date:
September 12, 2010; 4:30 pm

Various opportunities were discussed at today's meeting.

For the month of September, the following opportunities were discussed:
1. Herir Family - Heartworks would like to make a donation to the foundation(s) named by the family. Follow up on which foundations the family named is needed.

2. Pfister Family- Heartworks would like to make a donation to the foundation(s) named by the family. Kelli is sending a check for $50 today to the Neighbor’s pantry.

3. Pia Nolan- Pia is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Heartworks discussed making a basket for Pia,that included a gift certificate to Barnes and Nobles/Northshire Bookstore. In addition, the possibility of offering the family assistance with their fall clean up (i.e putting their gardens to bed, stacking wood, raking leaves, planting bulbs, etc....)

4. Chippenhook Store-extended family suffered tragic loss of home and loved ones in a fire in Schenectady in early July. The family is in need of many basic household items, including furniture, clothing,
utensils, etc... Lisa will send an email first requesting needed items. A gift certificate to Walmart will also be donated. The possibility of contacting Walmart Corporate Headquarters and asking if
they would match our donation to the family.



For the month of October, the following opportunity was discussed:
1. Clothes from the Heart- October 23rd
- Heartworks is requesting gently used clothing, footwear, outerwear, etc...for their annual clothes drive.
- Clothes may be delivered on October 17 to Maple Street School from 3-6pm. Prior to October 17th clothing may be dropped off at Jan’s Health food store in Manchester if you have to!
- Clothing sort will take place on October 17th at 3 pm at Maple Street School
- Set up will be October 22nd, 3:30-5:30pm
- Signs/labels indicating sizes and gender will be needed.
- Members will need to check with outlets, including The Equinox hotel as to the possibility of borrowing clothing racks for the the event.
- The possibility of checking with The Equinox Hotel to see if they could donate any gently used towels, sheets, etc...that they had planned on discarding anyway.
- we will contact the News Guide with new PR info.


For the month of November, the following opportunity was discussed:
1. Heartworks is asking that all members take a moment to bring canned items down to their local food shelf/food cupboard.

For the month of December, the following opportunity was discussed:
1. Heartworks will once again assemble baskets for families in need through The Dorset Church.
- Lists/email requesting items to follow in November.



At this time, follow up on the following opportunities is needed:

1. Donations to foundations named by the Herir and Pfister families.

2. Contact someone regarding the opportunity to help with fall clean up.

3. Assemble basket for Pia Nolan. Send email to members.

4. Send email to members requesting items for the extended family of the owners of the Chipppenhook Store. Possibly contact Walmart Corporate Headquarters requesting a matching donation.

5. Begin collecting clothing for clothing drive. Contact News Guide promoting the event.

6. Check with local outlets and hotel to see if Heartworks can borrow clothing racks.

7. Check with The Equinox to see if they would like to donate towels,
sheets, rags, etc....

minutes of the 1/10/10 Meeting

Minutes of the 1/10/10 Heartworks Meeting
Present- Julie C. , Teresa, Carol D., Kelli, Julie R., Victoria, Lisa, Carol S., Courtney, Moira S.
(We welcomed 2 brand new members)
We lit candles and sent some prayers to loved ones in need as well as support to our troops.
Old business: Julie R. talked about the community sharing project and how that went. We thanked everyone for donating money or items to Vanessa and her family whose home was destroyed by a fire.
We talked about this being the start of our 3rd year and how some events will be happening annually.
New Business: Teresa brought up the Bike Bike and Trike event that was so successful last year and is looking into setting the date as May 15, 2010. She is going to check with the Chamber to see if it conflicts with other events.
The February Fundraiser will be the Talent Show. More details will follow but it will be on Feb. 7th , 4:30-6:30, we will have a run-through on Jan.31 from 2:30-4 and a brief Heartworks meeting to follow. The evening of the event we will sell pizza, baked goods and water. We will need help with set up, clean up and with sales that night. We are getting announcements and a flier out this week. Get your kid/s ready for a FUN evening!
We discussed 2 possible people we may collect money to help. (Locals that we have to see if they are receptive to our help).
We ended the meeting! Great conversations, stories and snacks! Thanks to all who attended and all who continue to support our cause!
