1/19/11 MEETING minutes

Minutes of the Heartworks Meeting on January 19, 2011
Attendance: Sophia, Lauren, Lisa, Kelli, Melissa, Jan, Victoria, Elizabeth, Chrissy, Nina, Maralise
We lit a candle for our troops and lit some small candles for prayers for others.
We had wonderful appetizers and the hit was the edamame ( new for some) and thanks to Jan for an incredible chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and super yummy raspberry bars (Kelli and Will)
The cake celebrated the completion of our 3rd year of Heartworks
Sophia G. told us how she has started a club at BBA that is part of the service learning and they are using Heartworks philosophy and doing a fundraiser so they can contribute to some acts of kindness. She has been inspired and hoping to spread what we do to the high school community.
We discussed some changes that we would like to make this year- goals – within our organizational system – brochures, a better website and maybe asking Kimet Hand to make a Heartworks bracelet.
As a group we decided to make the following financial contributions to a few families in the area - $200 - Charbonneau family ; $200 – Hehir family
$50 gas card to Pia Nolan as she continues to get treatment
the cards / money are being sent out tomorrow to those families
and we wrote a card of support to Nick Bell
we are sending Flowers to Kelly Waite
we are looking in to “Flying Kites” organization in Africa to make a one time contribution or perhaps adopting a child or something for that community.
**Another opportunity that you can contribute – we are creating a basket for Mary Mangiacotti, items to be collected at New Morning Healthfood store – some ideas are gift certificates for yoga class, massage, eye pillows, aromatherapy, tea, music, fun movies, candles, etc. Mary is currently in treatment with stage 3 breast cancer. Teacher, Mom and friend of many in the community. We will deliver her basket by next week – January 28th- please consider an item or $ towards gas card as she travels to Dartmouth and Sloan Kettering. Thanks all!
We all took gratitude stones at the end and focused on what we are grateful for!
******* Find the song Defying Gravity and play it – it has transformed me!! : )
thanks everyone for being a part of Heartworks! you all rock!
