ideas about Margaret: she might like the "Twilight" series (3 books about teenage vampires). She is into all sports and plays ice hockey; she likes female singers like Beyonce, also eminem; she would love any "Sing Star" DVDs - sort of karaoke for kids, and low-carb food, especially strawberries and blueberries. items to go to Carmel by Sunday 362-0965 180 Elm st.

Heather needs a crib, lamps, scatter rugs, kitchen stuff, toys , table ( she has a card table, no chairs) bedding, kitchen stuff
the boy is a big 18 months. Estelle Burgess is 362-3092 , burgfam12@comcast.net and she is finding out if she can get the
key from Heather, who works, Heather barely got the apartment and needs some furnishings. You can either drop off stuff with Jan at the Health food store or call Estelle directly.
Heartworks Minutes for the December 9, 2008 Meeting
Present: Dagny, Amy, Jan, Carmel, Lisa

Old Business – Thanks to everyone who helped in any way because the Clothes Drive was a huge success. Afterwards we got an email from Dee in Poultney, single mom , who has requested some jackets, boots for her and her kids and several people have contributed.
Thanks to the many in Heartworks who attended Grace’s cause dinner at the Wife. It was a great community event and the support was outstanding.
We received a request from Judy Hougton of BBA for some clothes for a mom and her 4 kids and we already gave them 3 bags and a gift card to Carters.

New Business - We have 3 tasks for this month and we are hoping to take care of them sooner than later.

1- We got word that there is a single Mom, Heather, who recently got an apartment and she and her 18 month boy only have a bed. They are in need and they need EVERYTHING that goes in a home. Jan has offered to take things at the Health food store and I have contacted Estelle Burgess and asked what we can do. We are hoping with all the people involved in Heartworks that we can set her up!

2 - Margaret is a 12 year old girl from E. Dorset and she has been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and we are going to put together a gift basket with gas cards and some stuff that she would like. Amy P. is going to find out what Margaret would like and they are in need of gas cards, Shaws ,5, 10 20$ whatever you can, if at all. Or just leave a card with a message of hope. We would like to put together this basket on Sunday and it will be given to her Monday. Carmel Furtado will collect items at her house on 180 Elm street.
There are a couple of people that have diabetic kids that have contacted Nancy ( the Mom) already and she is in need of support and advice with nutrition. We were thinking maybe Julie Hand, nutritionist in town, may help.

3 – Dee from Poultney is receiving a bag from us and all that is missing are 2 jackets for her kids , sizes 16-18.

Carmel Furtado is taking on getting a non-profit status for us so we can open an account and receive more money so we can give away more!

Our Next Meeting is January 25th 5pm and this is our year anniversary of the beginning of Heartworks…. Jan is graciously making a cake! And we will have Amy write an article about “A Year in Heartworks” all that we have done… and it has been great – we will update people on what we have done and how ,as this new group, we can continue to help in whatever ways that we can!

I am off to Rhode Island to celebrate Amy ( founder of RI Heartworks, 40th Birthday and in her honor, all her friends and family had to do “acts of kindness” or contribute to her Heartworks group.

Please pick something to participate in and more will found out in the coming days of what you can contribute to Heather’s place.

So, in this time of giving, and love , family, friendship ….. please help either Heather, Margaret, Dee, or all 3.

Happy Holidays!
Lisa
