Minutes of the April 27th Heartworks Meeting

Present : Julie Crosier, Karen Viglas, Melissa Reece, Maralise Boynton,
Katie Pinkus, Margo Smithwick, Debbie Post, Julie Pierce, Sandy Peters,
Wanda Knowles, Victoria Silsby, Lisa Kelly

Opened with a guided meditation by Debbie.

Old business: mentioned that our “anonymous giving” went well, had some displays of our potted plants and postcards from Craft day at Stacy’s house.
Dagny had received a thank you from a family that we gave a stone to.
We decided that not enough was dropped off with Victoria for Scotty.
Updated that Paul S. is still at Mt. Sinai but doing well. Brian G. is at Mt. Sinai and at the beginning of his chemo / bone marrow transplant. Terry, who we sent cds is back in the hospital. And we are going to do more for Scotty M.

New business: we are doing a fundraiser for Heartworks to get some money so we can do more giving to people. Family Farm Day will be held at Julie and Doug Crosier’s farm in W. Arlington on May 17th. A flyer will follow with more details. We had a sign up go around for baked goods, any craft tables that people want to have that day, clean-up, lunch serving, and tables ( all set with the tables). It is such a great opportunity for families to come and have a blast with their kids. More to follow – but thanks to all who gave $5.00. Our way to help others is to be able to give in different ways. The NJ heartworks group has a large budget from various fundraisers. We are at the beginning of this all.
Katie Pinkus mentioned that a patient Kami went through Leukemia at a younger age and just had a double mastectomy and is having a real hard time. Katie talked to her last night and she is overwhelmed and touched by us wanting to help. More will be revealed on how we help her, basket, food, etc. But she loves her gardens and can’t get out to do it all so we may determine a day real soon to go up and help her gardening.
Julie P. brought up maybe doing more for the New Orleans community, who is very much still in need.
* We missed Gail and her GREEN TIP! And I missed Irene and her supreme minute-taking ability. Next meeting- June 1st. Thanks for everyone for being a part of this all!
